Restaurant Asset Tags and Kitchen Labels

Tags for kitchen equipment, smallwares and POS gear that take grease, nearby heat and daily sanitizer.

A restaurant kitchen is hard on a label. Grease settles on every surface, the line runs hot, and everything gets cleaned and sanitized every day. Restaurant asset tags have to stay on through all of it and still scan when the repair tech or the auditor shows up. Strongest tier tags handle the back of house, with a permanent adhesive and a 6-mil overlaminate. Stronger tier tags suit POS terminals, tablets and front of house gear where a clean removal matters later. Our tags are on assets at Chick-fil-A.

Asset tags for restaurant equipment start in the kitchen

Back of house equipment is the expensive part of a restaurant: ranges, fryers, ovens, refrigeration, ice machines, mixers and prep tables. It is also where labels fail. Grease films over everything, steam and heat rise from the line, and the whole kitchen is scrubbed down at close.

The Strongest tier is built for that. It is 12-mil plastic with a 3.5-mil permanent adhesive that sticks to smooth or textured surfaces, including powdercoat and textured plastic. A 6-mil overlaminate keeps the number readable through grease, cleaning and handling. The tag is made to stay for the life of the equipment.

Heat: near the line, never on it

Stronger and Strongest tags are rated for -40°F to 250°F continuous service. That range covers walk-in coolers and freezers as well as equipment housings that stay warm but never get hot.

Three things defeat any printed label, ours included: continuous heat above 250°F, direct flame, and sustained soaking in solvents stronger than a standard industrial degreaser. Keep tags off griddle tops, burner grates, oven doors, fryer vats and anything else that runs hot. Put them on the cool side of the equipment: a side or front panel away from the heat, the area near the controls, or the frame.

Kitchen equipment labels that take grease and sanitizer

A kitchen is cleaned every day. Degreaser goes on the line, sanitizer goes on every prep surface, and hot water and a scrub brush finish the night. A tag on kitchen equipment sees all of it.

The Stronger and Strongest overlaminate is rated against isopropyl alcohol, ethanol and quaternary-ammonium disinfectants, resists bleach, and is waterproof under standard industrial washdown. On production equipment, Strongest tags survive parts-washer cycles below 180°F with a standard industrial degreaser.

For smallwares that go through a dish machine, test before you commit. Order samples, run them through your own cycle with your own chemicals, and look at them after a week of real use.

Smallwares, POS terminals and tablets

Not every restaurant asset is a big machine. Hotel pans, sheet pans, thermometers, scales, storage bins and small appliances are easy to lose track of between locations. Small tags fit them. We die-cut any size and shape with no die charge and no setup fee, down to 0.25 inch on the Strongest tier, and its adhesive is made for polyethylene and polypropylene, the plastics many bins and containers are made from.

Front of house is different. POS terminals, card readers, tablets, printers and office computers sit on smooth surfaces and get replaced on a cycle. The Stronger tier carries your full-color logo and can be removed from hard surfaces without leaving permanent residue when the device is retired. For devices that tend to walk away, tamper-evident labels show when someone has tried to peel the tag.

Numbering across every location

A restaurant group needs one numbering system that works in every kitchen. A short prefix per location plus a sequential number keeps every asset number unique. A multi-segment number can encode location, equipment type and sequence. Sequential numbering, variable data, barcodes and QR codes are free on every tier. Send your list as a spreadsheet and we print it exactly.

Add a QR code and the tag becomes the way in to the equipment's record. A manager scans the fryer, sees its service history, and reports the problem from the same screen. We do not sell software. Our tags work with the asset tracking software you already use or with a shared spreadsheet. For marking ownership on everything else, see property tags and equipment labels.

Ordering for one kitchen or many

Start with samples: all three tiers in several sizes with an instruction card for surface prep, shipped within one business day. When the tags pass your own test, build them in the online designer, use the spec builder to confirm the tier, or request a quote for a larger rollout.

Stronger and Strongest orders start at 100 tags. Full-color logo printing is free on both. Production is 5 business days after artwork approval, and every tag is printed, laminated and die-cut in central Florida.

Best-practice install pattern

  • 01Clean grease off the spot before you apply. Greasy surfaces should be cleaned with a hot solvent like lacquer thinner and allowed to dry before the tag goes on.
  • 02Place tags on the cool side of the equipment, away from burners, griddles, fryer vats and oven doors.
  • 03Keep tags off food-contact surfaces. Put them on the equipment body, the frame or near the controls.
  • 04Give each location its own prefix so every asset number is unique across the group.

FAQ for restaurants + food service

Can the tags go on a fryer or an oven?

On the equipment, yes, but not on the hot parts. Stronger and Strongest tags are rated -40°F to 250°F continuous service. Continuous heat above 250°F and direct flame defeat any printed label, so place the tag on a panel away from the heat source.

Will kitchen sanitizer and degreaser wear off the print?

The print sits under an overlaminate rated against isopropyl alcohol, ethanol and quaternary-ammonium disinfectants, and the tags are waterproof under standard industrial washdown. Sustained soaking in solvents stronger than a standard industrial degreaser will defeat any printed label.

Will the tags work in a walk-in freezer?

Stronger and Strongest tags are rated down to -40°F in service. Apply them to a clean, dry surface for the best bond.

Can each restaurant have its own number range?

Yes. Numbering is free. We print a prefix per location with a sequential number, a multi-segment number, or your own list from a spreadsheet.

Do you make tamper-evident tags for POS equipment?

Yes. VOID-residue labels leave a pattern on the device and the label when someone tries to peel them, and destructible labels break apart so they cannot be reapplied. Both can carry a barcode, a QR code and a serial number.

Stop replacing labels. Start trusting them.
